About Stumptown Stages
Stumptown Stages is dedicated to the production of musicals
and the development of original musicals, collaborating with local
performing/visual artists, designers, musicians, playwrights,
composers, lyricists, directors and choreographers and building
a sense of community by providing arts education, outreach programming
and a broad spectrum of theatrical experiences for a wide and
diverse audience.
Founded in 2005 by Artistic Director Kirk Mouser. Stumptown Stages has produced:

Rapture, (West Coast Premiere)
Reefer Madness
Grease
Floyd Collins, (PAMTA Award, Best Supporting Actor)

The Wiz, (Drammy Award for Best Choreography, and Best Young Performer)
A Chorus Line
After four successful seasons under Artistic Director, Kirk Mouser, Stumptown Stages entered into a collaborative partnership with Jefferson High School. Jefferson has a long history of passion for the arts. Budget cuts and socioeconomic changes in the area however, made it increasingly difficult for the school to continue providing the arts programming of the past. In 2008, Jefferson had 0.5 FTE dedicated to drama, and 0 FTE dedicated to music. Stumptown Stages partnership helps fill that gap. As a musical theatre company, Stumptown is uniquely situated to bring vital arts programming to the students of Jefferson and the community. The collaboration between both entities enriches and inspires students, fosters creativity and community, and is a great example of a creative partnership between educational and cultural institutions.
Stumptown Stages whose namesake "Stumptown" was a quirky and endearing nickname for the City of Portland,
